- Abstract
The article focuses on the findings of a study on the capability of geriatric comprehensive assessment (CGA) to predict the outcome of pneumonia in older people, conducted in Belgium. CGA determines the medical, psychosocial, functional, environmental resources and problems of an elderly person. The subjects are treated with cefepime alone or in combination. The study found that pneumonia mortality increases with age due to associated conditions such as presence of co-morbidities and malnutrition.
