- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the role of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) as host factors for hepatitis C virus (HCV) entry. The study has identified clinical inhibitors of the two RTKs such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and ephrin receptor A2 (EphA2) which provide signals causing proliferation, migration, morphogenesis and other fundamental cellular processes of HCV virus. The study also shows how pharmacological blockage of the two cofactors can prevent viral infection.
