- Title
Support or Resistance? Examining Breathing Techniques in Choral Singing.
- Authors
Cottrell, Duane
- Abstract
The article examines breathing techniques in choral singing. Historical writings and contemporary research highlight the important concepts related to breathing for singing, including the use of the chest and the abdomen, the balance of inspiratory and expiratory forces, and the concept of breath support. Although vocal pedagogy is an inherited legacy, it is important for choral conductors to adapt the current developments and techniques to help a choir perform better.
