- Abstract
Based upon Piaget's constructivism approach, this investigation searched social representations about poverty, social inequalities and socio-economical mobility, built by youngsters between 19 and 24 years, in a university institution from Barranquilla. The sample consisted of 50 young people intentionally chosen, belonging to a multiple financial system and different socio- economic lead, and studying Law, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Medicine and Psychology. Findings show that only 10% of subjects reach thinking level IV, the expected one because of their age, and that the career they are studying plays an important role on the ideas they have about these phenomena.
