- Abstract
This article discusses the management and follow-up of patients with disordered proliferative endometrium (DPE) following endometrial sampling. The study, which included 272 women from four hospitals in North West London, found that there is currently no nationally approved management strategy for these patients. The most common indication for referral was heavy menstrual bleeding, and ultrasound findings varied, including endometrial thickness, cystic features, and possible polyps. Treatment options included no treatment, hormonal therapy, and surgery, with progesterone treatment showing positive results in resolving DPE. The study concludes that long-term monitoring is necessary for women with DPE due to its association with endometrial hyperplasia, and further research is needed to establish specific treatment and follow-up protocols.
