- Abstract
This research aims to describe the urgency/importance of career planning for students, identify factors that influence students' career planning, and analyze the function of counseling guidance in improving students' career planning at SMP Negeri 1 Depok. This research uses qualitative descriptive data. This research sample was conducted with one guidance and counseling teacher and five students. Data collection was carried out in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research are: First, the urgency/importance of career planning for participants means that career planning is very important. Career guidance is provided to determine goals for selecting things to do in the future. Career planning can foster the development of understanding and teach students to know every talent and interest they have, have the courage to make the right decisions, and be able to solve problems well and correctly. Second, identifying factors that influence career planning. It was found that there are several factors that can influence students' career planning. Includes, among others: 1) parental factors, 2) peer factors, 3) influence of knowledge, 4) career changes. Third, analyzing the function of counseling guidance in developing students' career planning, it can be found that the function of counseling guidance in career planning has a significant function. It can be seen that students can develop an understanding of careers after studying after graduating from junior high school, knowing their interests, talents, abilities and developments for each student's career.
