- Abstract
Dr. Holger Prokisch, a researcher at the Institute of Human Genetics in Germany, has been awarded the GfH Medal of Honour by the German Society of Human Genetics. He is being recognized for his work in identifying the molecular basis of mitochondrial dysfunction and exploring personalized treatment options for mitochondrial disorders. Dr. Prokisch has published over 350 papers in his 30-year career, with a focus on mitochondrial function and disorders. He has also been involved in coordinating national and international research networks and has contributed to the dissemination of his research through conferences and workshops. Despite his scientific successes, Dr. Prokisch has chosen to remain in his current position to focus on his research and prioritize his family.
