- Abstract
The article discusses the role of plea bargaining (PB) in the American judicial system as of 2015, and it mentions guilty pleas, tests for the effectiveness of counsel, and the need for legal protection under the Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Several American criminal law-related proceedings are addressed, including the U.S. Supreme Court cases Strickland v. Washington, Boykin v. Alabama, and Hill v. Lockhart which deal with PB and ineffective assistance of counsel claims.
