- Abstract
The article presents a study on the comparison of a Randomized Multiple Choice (RMC) format, an adapted examination procedure used to facilitate objective grading of test items that require multiple step answer. The format of the RMC consists of a problem followed by several multiple choice items corresponding to the steps in the solution of the problem. The basic format is limited to problems with one prime method of solution., although the branching design can be adapted for the problems with alternate mode solution. The multiple choice items are presented in random order which the students will organize using the correct sequence of concept to solve the problem. The amount of credit the student received for his solution was directly proportional to the number of the multiple choice items answered correctly.
