A major fire in a catalytic cracker system.
- Authors
Fishwick, Tony
- Abstract
A major fire occurred in a fluid catalytic cracking unit at a refinery. It burned for approximately two hours before the site fire fighting team could bring it under control. By this time, it had caused some $8 million (eight million US dollars) worth of damage, in early 1980s values, to plant and equipment. Amazingly, no injuries occurred apart from two minor first aid cases.
