- Abstract
A biography is presented for Deborah Willet (1650-1678), notable mistress of English Restoration diarist Samuel Pepys. She was born to Bristol, England to merchant Robert Willet and his wife Elizabeth, was hired as a companion to Pepys's wife Elizabeth in 1667, and left the Pepys' household roughly one year later after her relationship with Samuel was uncovered. In 1670 she married clergyman Jeremiah Wells (1646-1679), she had two daughters, and the couple enjoyed the patronage of Pepys.
