- Abstract
This document is a response to a letter discussing the differences between CT systems in terms of iodine CT numbers in virtual monoenergetic images (VMIs). The authors of the response agree with the concerns raised in the letter and explain that iodine CT numbers in VMIs should not depend on the CT system. They conducted a study comparing two types of CT scanners and found that while the spectral photon-counting detector CT (SPCCT) had some imperfections, it still had better detectability and higher contrast compared to the energy integrating detector dual-layer CT (EID-DLCT). The authors acknowledge that further development is needed for the SPCCT technology.
