- Abstract
This document is a reply to a comment on a study investigating the association between glucose-lowering drugs and stroke risk in patients with type 2 diabetes. The study found that treatment with SGLT-2 inhibitors or GLP-1 receptor agonists was associated with a lower risk of non-fatal stroke or transient ischemic attacks. The study also compared different drug groups and found that metformin and insulin were associated with slightly reduced risks. The authors highlight the importance of considering both single-drug associations and real-world studies when analyzing the data. They also discuss the challenges of comparing different drugs in real-world studies and provide age-stratified and subgroup analyses. The findings of the study are consistent with a recent meta-analysis. The study was funded by various organizations and the authors declare their conflicts of interest. Ethical approval and informed consent were waived due to privacy regulations.
