- Abstract
This article discusses the exhibition "White House Festival of the Arts," at the White House in Washington D.C. in 1965 and how it affected author Dwight Macdonald. Macdonald's writing up to the festival was invigorating, showing the clash in the wars between the political parties. After the festival he began to have writers block and also became more involved in the Vietnam War and the protests. The author became less worried about his writers block and more concerned about the next protest. He spent less time in his office and more time on the streets. It was said that this was a great loss for the cultural scene as his writing soon came to cease.
