- Title
II. REGULATION OF PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS.
- Authors
Curran, Kenneth J.
- Abstract
The article presents information on legal developments in regulation of product characteristics in the U.S. market. In a legal battle between Sacks Woolen Co. and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, Sacks Woolen Co., a manufacturer of woolen skirt lengths, included in its product more wool than was indicated on the label. The Hearing Examiner noted that the Wool Products Labeling Act requires scrupulously accurate labeling and thus the incorrect label violated the Act. In another decision, the commission again enforced specific requirements that labels be plainly legible, and that furs be specified and labeled in accordance with the Fur Products Name Guide.
