- Abstract
Objective: To observe the clinical effect of simethicone emulsion combined with in the treatment of patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Methods: A total of 180 patients with IBS during January 2014 and October 2015 were randomly divided into simethicone emulsion combined with Bacillus subtilis group (treatment group, n=92) and single Bacillus subtilis group (control group, n=88). All patients were treated for 4 weeks and were followed up to observe the symptoms of gastrointestinal tract. Then the total effective rate of treatment, the respective effective rate of different gastrointestinal symptoms and the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS) were analyzed in different types of IBS patients before and 4 weeks after the treatment. Results: The total efficiency of patients in treatment group after 4 weeks of treatment was 88.0 %, significantly higher than that of the control group, the total efficiency of 70.5% (P<0.05). The treatment efficiency of abdominal distension and stool frequency in treatment group were respectively 94.6 % and 78.3 %, significantly higher than that of the control group of 77.3 % and 60.2% (P<0.05), but the abdominal pain and stool characteristics change in two groups had no significant difference (P>0.05). GSRS of same type IBS patients in the same group after 4 weeks of treatment were significantly lower than that of IBS patients before treatment (P<0.05), and the treatment was quite effective. However, in four groups of patients with different types of IBS in 4 weeks after the treatment, only GSRS of patients with IBS-constipation has significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusions: Simethicone emulsion combined with Bacillus subtilis is effective for the patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), which can particularly alleviate pain and improve the stool frequency, Gastrointestinal symptomrecovery of the patients with constipation has the best effect among different type IBS patients.
