- Abstract
This article presents a case report of allergic contact dermatitis from cobalt in the rubber industry. A 24-year-old machine operator in the rubber industry was seen with a 3-week history of red vesicular eczema on the neck, eyelids, forearms and wrists, He had been working on the preparation of compounds for only 3 months. He had previously worked in the same factory making tyres and in that job had never had any eczema. He had a past history of atopic eczema localised to the elbow flexures. Patch tests were carried out with the standard series. At 48h it showed allergy to cobalt chloride 1% pet.
