- Abstract
In July 1978 a research chemist was admitted as an emergency with a severe dermatitis affecting several fingers of both hands, the back of the right hand, the penis, abdomen, right antecubital fossa and arm, the face, scalp and back of the neck. The rash had first appeared 5 days previously and he continued to develop fresh lesions for several days after admission. The affected areas showed dusky erythema and oedema resembling urticaria. and on the fingers, penis, abdomen and the back of the neck there were bullae of varying sizes, most but not all arising from areas of erythema. The patient complained of a severe burning sensation but was otherwise well.
