- Abstract
This study aims to establish the rate of pre-eclampsia among women with congenital heart disease and to compare it with the expected baseline incidence of pre-eclampsia in the unselected population. The rate of pre-eclampsia yielded by the meta-analysis was compared against the weighted mean of pre-eclampsia of the countries where the studies included in the meta-analysis were conducted. A total of 35 studies and 40,758 women with congenital heart disease since 1980 were included, from which 1,749 (4.28%) developed pre-eclampsia (including 49 [0.13%] cases of eclampsia in 9 studies and 6 [0.42%] of HELLP syndrome in 3 studies).
