- Title
An Industrial-Model Union in Academe.
- Authors
Palmer, John D.
- Abstract
The article presents the author's comment on the unionization of the Amherst, Massachusetts-based University of Massachusetts. The author says that scientists at universities trying to find ways to improve faculty well-being in difficult economic times should be careful against the drawbacks of unionism. As demonstrated by the events at the University of Massachusetts, a great deal can be lost. One can be forced to compromise with his standards and principles just to remain employed.
