- Abstract
Objective: to understand the meaning of life in traffic from the perspective of members of the Life in Traffic Network. Method: a descriptive, qualitative exploratory study, guided by the theoretical framework of social representations. Data collection took place from June to August 2016, through interviews with 30 participants. The collective subject discourse technique was used for data analysis. Results: emerged from the data representations portrayed in Anchorage (life promotion in traffic) and Central Idea (preservation of life by reducing accidents). The promotion of life in traffic is represented by education; respect; tolerance; investment and security. The preservation of life refers to the reduction of deaths in traffic and transport safely. Conclusion: life in traffic represents ideal traffic conditions and safe mobility. However, everyday reality signals the need for improvements to ensure life in traffic safely.
