- Abstract
The author reports on the official opening of five Islamic monuments in the al-Darb/ al-Almar area in Cairo, Egypt by Dr. Zahi Hawass, along with other government officials. The five monuments which were completely restored recently, include the al-Layth Mosque, the Ali Labib House and the "Well Zone" area of Youssef at the Citadel, where the ceremony was held. He also states that the restoration of the monuments aims to preserve the Islamic heritage of Egypt as part of the Supreme Council of Antiquities' (SCA) commitment. The author mentions his visit to the Well of Yousef and the Ali Labib House. He provides an overview and photographs on the two monuments he visited.
