- Abstract
The article discusses a study that examined chlorhexidine (CHX) and antibiotic susceptibility of intensive care unit (ICU) Escherichia (E.) coli pneumonia isolates, since a correlation between antibiotic resistance and decreased CHX susceptibility has been described for other pathogens. The researchers analyzed 260 E. coli pneumonia isolates retrieved from mechanically ventilated patients in 14 ICU in France to determine the effectiveness of CHX in inhibiting bacterial growth.
