- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigates the effect of pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) deletion on postnatal skeletal growth and development. Researchers have conducted several tests on bones from PAPPA-A knockout mice and determined the insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I levels and resorption markers of these mice. Results reveal that PAPP-A is a bone growth regulatory factor and plays a primary role in modulating local IGF bioavailability for trabecular bone remodeling.
