- Abstract
Introduction: The presence of tick in the ear can induce an intense pain and disturbing condition especially in a child. It sticks firmly onto the skin of the external auditory canal and sometimes on the tympanic membrane. Examination of the ear and attempt to remove the tick from the ear in a non-cooperative child is challenging. Methods: A review of the case notes was made. Results: A rare case of bilateral external auditory canal ticks in a 6-year-old child was reported. The ticks were successfully and completely removed under general anaesthesia without any complication. Conclusion: Tick as a foreign body in an ear is not uncommon in tropical countries, but a pair of ticks in both ears causing bilateral simultaneous symptom of otalgia is never reported. The management is challenging especially in children.
