- Abstract
The article discusses the potential role of collective management in terms of governing peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing and copyright laws as of August 2011, focusing on copyright licenses, copyright infringement laws in various countries, and a fair use copyright doctrine in nations such as the U.S. The possible imposition of liability on Internet service providers (ISPs) is examined, along with the P2P hosting provider BitTorrent and the legal rights of copyright holders around the globe.
