- Authors
James, Arlington
- Abstract
The article describes the uses of several native palms in Dominica. Such palms include the Latannyé or Coccothrinax barbadensis, which is regarded as the only native fan palm that can be made into house brooms and craft items. Another is the Palmis or Euterpe broadwayi, a palm regarded as the tallest and most distributed kind that can be used for making house brooms and frame for shoulder baskets. The use of Yanga Moutany or Geonoma undata for thatching is also indicated.
