- Abstract
In an article published in Advanced Functional Materials, researchers Sangmin Lee, Se Yong Jung, Jinkee Hong, and their colleagues present a silk fibroin-based heart valve leaflet that has a hierarchical structure suitable for replacing natural heart valve leaflets. The silk fibroin-based leaflets demonstrate excellent valve performance, indicating their potential as a cost-effective and reliable cardiovascular device. This research offers promising advancements in the development of bioprosthesis for heart valves.
