- Abstract
Radio resource management is one of the most important entities in the Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) which is responsible for maximizing the system capacity so as to maintain the planned coverage area and to deliver the required quality of service. Radio resource management algorithms are mainly divided covering five functions: power control, handoff control, load/congestion control, admission control and packet scheduling. In this paper, different algorithms of radio resource management used in Universal Mobile Telecommunication Standard (UMTS) are analyzed. A critical analysis of the well-known algorithms of radio resource management in UMTS is done.
