- Abstract
The article presents a study focusing on risk of cervical precancer and cancer among HIV-infected women with normal cervical cytology and no evidence of oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. It states that the recommendations under the HPV co-testing, cervical cancer screening guidelines in the U.S. reflect the low risk of cervical precancer and cancer observed in cytologically normal, oncogenic HPV-negativewomen. The study found similar risk of cervical precancer and cancer in HIVinfected women and HIV-uninfected women in the U.S.
