- Abstract
The article discusses a study of the risk of febrile seizures and epilepsy after diphtheria-tetanus toxoids-acellular pertussis-inactivated poliovirus-Haemophilus influenzae type b (DTaP-IPV-Hib) vaccination in Denmark. The study involved 388,817 children born from 2003 to 2008. Results show that 2.1% of the children exposed to DTap-IPV-Hib vaccination were diagnosed with febrile seizures before 18 months. Also cited is the finding that febrile seizure risks increased on the day of the first and second vaccinations. It concludes that there is no correlation between the vaccination and increased risk for epilepsy.
