- Authors
Levinson, Sanford
- Abstract
The article provides an analysis on the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in the District of Columbia v. Heller case in June 2008. The author explores the reasons pertaining to this notion, including one which involves the legal validity of a gun control ordinance that effectively bans the private possession of handguns which was submitted in the District of Columbia. He also notes the peculiarity of the wording of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which calls for a well regulated militia and grants citizens the right to bear arms.
