- Abstract
Bilateral extensions of the tumour which had been dissected out of the rectus sheaths can be seen. gl Final pathology of the abdominopelvic mass showed bland spindle cell proliferation and intervening adipose tissue with no atypia, tumour necrosis, or increased mitotic figures (Fig. A 56-year-old perimenopausal female with 8 months of abdominal fullness was found to have a large mixed isoechoic and hypoechoic solid mass lesion filling the abdomen and pelvis on transabdominal ultrasound. Similar appearing tissue can be seen invaginating and expanding both rectus sheaths (b). gl Ultrasound guided biopsy showed smooth muscle proliferation consistent with possible leiomyoma with no malignancy, atypia or increased mitotic activity.
