- Abstract
In the present article we approach the study of the three images that illustrate the book of the friar dieguino, fray Baltasar de Medina, Chronica de la Santa Provincia de San Diego de México, de Religiosos Descalços de N.S.P.S. Francisco en la Nueva-España. Vidas de ilustres y venerables Varones, que la han edificado con excelentes virtudes, printed in Mexico, in 1682. As we will see, it was a novelty due to the number of images that illustrated it, as well as the fact that all of them were signed, two by Antonio Ysarti and another by Andrés Antonio. In addition to the signatures we find in the frontispiece and the map of the Province of San Diego, we can consider that Baltasar de Medina played a very prominent role in the iconographic program of the engravings.
