Transcending the disaster paradigm: Understanding persistence of animal populations in fire‐prone environments.
- Abstract
Transcending the disaster paradigm: Understanding persistence of animal populations in fire-prone environments An extensive high severity fire was a disaster for this swamp wallaby, but not its population, as many others detected the approaching fire and evaded its lethal heat. A focus on behavioural processes and traits (Hradsky, 2020; Nimmo et al., 2019) is now heralding a new era of conceptual development in the fire ecology and evolution of animals.
