- Abstract
The purpose of cunent study was to investigate the functional components and amounts on different parts of Lycium chinense Miller (LCM) which was cultivated in cenn·al Taiwan. The LCM was planted in Miaoli and Changhua counties. After gatheting, the plants were divided into four parts: top of leaves (20 em), middle section of leaves (20 em), lower section of leaves and stern. Then, the analysis of functional components was done with spectrophotometer and HPLC. The results showed that total polyphenol (TP) was identified on four parts of the LCM. The highest and the lowest TP content were detected on the top of leaves (57.79 mg/g) and the lower section of stems (13.77 mg/g). Regarding the content of specific functional components, chlorogenic acid was identified on four pa1ts of plants and the highest content was detected on the middle section ofleaves (48.81 ± 7.68 mg/g). The investigative data could be the reference for the development of feed additive in the future.
