- Authors
Poole, Elizabeth M.; Rice, Megan S.; Crum, Christopher P.; Tworoger, Shelley S.
- Abstract
The authors discuss a study by H. Falconer and colleagues, published within the issue on the impact of salpingectomy on ovarian cancer incidence. Topics discussed include the use of bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (BSO) as an ovarian cancer risk-reducing measure, the limitations of the study, and the study's finding that removing the fallopian tubes, but leaving the ovaries intact, may help in reducing risk of ovarian cancer.
