- Abstract
This article presents a study that investigated the association between birth weight and body composition and fat distribution in adolescents, as well as the possible sex-specific effect in these relationships. Several adolescents from five Spanish cities served as subjects in this study. Results showed a positive association between birth weight Z-score and fat-free mass (FFM) in female adolescents. The study found an inverse association between adjusted birth weight Z-score and central adiposity in male and female adolescents.
