- Abstract
The article presents a study on the use of comparative functional genomics in the assessment of diet-induced (DIO) obese rats as an obesity model. In the study, gene-expression profiles of epididymal fat from DIO and lean rats were taken and compared with human subcutaneous adipocytes. The researchers conclude that caloric intake and fuel efficiency were higher in DIO rats resulting in high body weight and adiposity.
