- Abstract
The article discusses the use of the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method in improving the identification of pomatoschistus species in the North Atlantic Ocean. It reveals that identifying a marine species has been one of the main concerns in fish studies. Therefore, there is a need for a molecular characterization to be used as part of its ecological analyses. The study focuses on pomatoschistus genus, which is considered difficult to determine due to similarities in their morphological appearances and habitats. Hence, it suggests on studying these species based on PCR-RFLP method in DNA sequencing, using restriction enzymes and gel electrophoresis.
