- Abstract
Since the rise of National Socialism in Germany, both in Buenos Aires and in different cities around the world, publishing projects led by opponents emerged to combat the National Socialist ideology and vindicate the existence of an "other Germany" in exile. The following article aims 1) to show some of the strategies of insertion by publishing initiatives founded in Buenos Aires within that German publishing universe in exile, as well as the opposite process. That is to say, to reinstate the role of the publications published in Argentina as platforms for the reception and circulation of contents produced in the northern hemisphere among German-speaking readers in Latin America. For this we start by interpellating periodicals as "exhibition devices" (Rogers, 2019). Furthermore, 2) to exhibit some of the strategies used by the publishers Cosmopolita and Alemann to bond with their readers, as well as the means used to "balance" between political commitment and commercial survival as publishing companies aimed at a German-speaking public. For this, we will take into account the value of periodicals as vectors for the formation of "affective communities" (Gandhi, 2006) on a transnational scale.
