- Abstract
Childhood injuries are common in modern society and they present a significant public health burden. The types and occurrence of injuries are changing, as well as standpoints on the treatment of injured children. Tendency for early return to everyday activities including school and sports leads to changes in indications for operative treatment. Nowadays, pediatric surgeons are becoming more prone to operative treatment followed by in-hospital or out of hospital physical therapy. Still, there is no consensus on the treatment of some sport injuries in adolescence. Individual approach and team work of surgeons and physical medicine specialists may lead to change in views and finding of optimal surgical and rehabilitation treatments. In this article some specific issues, current viewpoints and personal preferences in the treatment of injured children are presented.
