- Abstract
All parents expect painless, comfortable, quality dental care for their children, but the success of the treatment depends not only on the cooperation level of the child but also on the parent's perception for the child's behavior in the operatory. Although most of the children can be managed using conventional behavior management techniques, very few of them require pharmacological intervention. The nitrous oxideoxygen inhalational sedation technique is the most commonly accepted pharmacological behavior management technique in Western countries and many Middle East countries. However, in India, the acceptance of this technique is still debatable. One of the reasons is the differences in parental decision-making in employing the sedation technique to manage a child's behavior. This could be due to unawareness and certain myths surrounding the topic. Thus, the purpose of this video presentation is to throw light on myths and misconceptions about the nitrous oxide-oxygen inhalation sedation technique in pediatric dentistry with some tips, tricks, and hacks.
