- Abstract
The article provides information about anaemia, which is considered as a key global maternal health issue. It highlights the findings of the World Health Organization Multicountry Survey on Maternal and Newborn Health suggesting anaemia as the most common indirect cause of adverse maternal outcomes such as maternal mortality. Information about ethnic differences on haemoglobin in pregnancy is provided.
