- Abstract
The textile industries generate high levels of greenhouse gas emissions, making it essential to adopt climate change mitigation practices. With this in mind, the general objective of this study was to analyse the climate change mitigation practices adopted in the Brazilian textile industries and to develop a reference framework based on this analysis. The analysis was based on data obtained from a survey of 38 companies in the Brazilian textile sector, mostly micro and small companies, with respondents in senior management positions. From the data obtained, it was possible to verify that the most widely adopted practice in relation to the climate change block is life cycle analysis and the least adopted practice is remuneration based on climate change mitigation targets. With regard to the data obtained on the zero carbon block, the most adopted practice was waste management and the least adopted was the emissions inventory.
