- Abstract
The article discusses the clinical manifestations of COVID-19 in children and the need to distinguish between different variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and other respiratory viruses. The study conducted by Wurm et al. aimed to determine the changing clinical presentation of COVID-19 in children during the pandemic. The study found that fever was the main clinical finding, followed by respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms. However, the study was limited to hospitalized children and could not capture the full spectrum of the disease. Differentiating between respiratory viruses is important for public health measures, clinical management, and preventive measures such as vaccines and antiviral medications. Ongoing surveillance and research are necessary to monitor the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 variants and their impact on clinical outcomes.
