- Abstract
The authors present a hypothesis explaining the mechanisms of Méniere's disease in terms of membrane processes. It is based on known pathomorphology and physiology of the mebranous labyrinth, clinical studies on the disease, and physical understanding of the processes of pervasion through heterogeneous porous membranes. We present a specific membrane model of the between stria vascularis/endolymph interface. The model may be helpful in providing information to better understand the endolymph production processes, and in particular the processes that determine growth of endolymphatic hydrops.
