- Abstract
Objectives: The overall incidence of Persistant Left Superior Caval Vein (PLSCV) was determined as 0.3% after an autopsy survey. The present study focuses on the rate of the entity, and assessing the clinical significance. Materials and Methods: 5652 transthoracic echocardiographic (TTE) evaluations were performed sequentially between May 2010 and June 2011. PLSCV was determined via venous injection of agitated saline contrast in patients with coronary sinus dilatation detected by TTE. Clinical and demographic features of seven cases diagnosed by TTE was evaluated. Results: Seven cases of PLSCV were defined in the present study in the 5652 cases. The incidence of PLSCV in the present study was determined as 0.12%. Conclusion: Along with these data, incidence of the entity in upper Firat Territory was set. It is suggested that once transthoracic echocardiography detected a dilated coronary sinus, it is essential to bear in mind the PLSCV draining into the right atrium via coronary sinus.
