- Abstract
The article discusses HIV prevalence and associated behaviors among injecting drug users (IDU). HIV testing and interviews about HIV-associated behaviors was done by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National HIV Behavioral Surveillance System (NHBS) in selected metropolitan statistical areas (MSA). Results showed a decrease in the number of HIV infections, with IDUs accounting for nine percent of the new HIV infections in the U.S. in 2009.
