- Title
AT LONG LAST, MEET EDGAR!
- Authors
O'NEIL, JAMES P.
- Abstract
This article discusses guidelines in preparing for the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis and Retrieval (EDGAR) electronic filing project by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In 1993 companies will be required to perform electronic filing. Preparing for electronic filing includes several steps. The first is to create a specific group knowledgeable of EDGAR which can determine timetables, create a list of filing procedures, evaluate resources, and write up a response to EDGAR. Such a group should have the technical expertise to electronically change the document into the filing format, complete a review of the electronic document, and to ensure both receipt and acceptance by the SEC.
